Mandranova**** - Agrigento


The Antico Granaio Mandranova is situated in the surroundings of Agrigento, in the Southern Sicily, at only few km from Valley of the Temples.

The firm has a long tradition of specialized cultivations, and the family transmits the deep love for the care of land from father to son. Today, after a reclamation and cultivation, 40 hectares are dedicated to olive trees, with extremely innovative cultivation, gathering and processing systems.

The agriturismo is an old granary which has been transformed in a luxurious villa. The trade mark Mandranova is well known for its olive oil production, exported all over the world.

The villa still holds big rocky fireplaces, majolica flooring and high ceilings and particularly furnished rooms.

The rooms
The rooms are different from one to another, they are all furnished with pieces of antiquity, particular handcrafted fine art objects and decorated with the colours of typical Sicilian landscape. The suites also include a stylish furnished living room.

From the external terraces you will admire a wonderful panoramic view upon the rich olive trees and the typical Mediterranean countryside. In the same estate there is an old level-crossing keeper's lodge, today transformed in a typical resort.

The living room
The main living room of the suites, widely window lighted, it’s a very relaxing place where you will be able to enjoy reading a good book, selected from the bookshelves.

The particular rocky swimming pool, built on a higher zone from the villa, gives you the possibility to enjoy a beautiful view on the surrounding countryside.
The meals will be served in a very stylish and characteristic restaurant.

Olive Picking
This is a working Olive estate, so come in October if you want to see the picking and pressing. Guests are welcome to wander through the olive groves.

Cooking classes
Mrs. Silvia organizes special cooking courses for her guests, revealing little tricks of Sicilian cuisine and using typical ingredients and tasty traditional recipes.
Her favourite recipes is anelletti al forno (baked pasta), pasta con le sarde (with sardinas), polpettone (meatloaf), mix fry “da strada” (“on the road”) and finally the desserts with almonds or ricotta cheese.
