SICILIA CULINARIA
Sicily’s culinary heritage
is treasured, representing as it does an exotic mix of different
traditions, rich in the strong flavors of anchovies,
hot peppers and garlic,
and the more subtle flavors of fruit and herbs (chiefly basil
and mint).
Fish, olive oil and pasta are the main ingredients.
Although there are many dishes which are extremely simple,
as in the case with verdure in pastella, there are more elaborate
ones such as the arancine and stuffed sarde a beccafico o
calamari ripieni.
Pasta is of course a staple ingredient in our dishes as pasta
con le sarde or pasta alla norma.
We have a great love for good dessert as cassata with ricotta
cheese or cannoli, and for good cheeses.
So, Sicily is a wonderful place to visit: very warm and outgoing
people, delicious food and excellent wine.
