NATURAL SICILY: Alternative Routes Among Nature, History and Tradition.

DAY 1:
Arrival at Catania' s airport. Transfer by minibus to hotel. Briefing, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2: Etna 2002 eruption, Lava caves & Wine
Breakfast in Hotel. Transfer by minibus to Etna.
This program features: a visit hike along the Sartorius Craters Nature trail-charateristic flank ”bottoniera” (button hole like line of craters) craters- and lava cave visit. In the afternoon you will taste in a vineyard five varieties of Etna wines and sample Sicilian cold meats, cheeses and preserves. With the right winter snow conditions, it is possible to do a snow shoe hike (with sticks), with the equipment supplied by us. In the late afternoon return by minibus to Catania. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3: Etna summit, Alcantara, Taormina
Breakfast in Hotel. Transfer by minibus to Etna.
This program features: a visit hike along to the upper area of Etna by helping of Cable cave and 4X4 jeep. Packed lunch or at restaurant.
In the afternoon a visit to the Alcantara Gorge, considered one of the most important natural areas in Sicily. Before coming back to Catania a visit to Taormina. In the late afternoon return by minibus to Catania. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 4: Montalbano medioeval town and Malabotta Natural Reserve
Breakfast in Hotel. Transfer by minibus to Montalbano. This program features: a visit hike “
Monoliths of Argimusco”, a delightful walk on the ridge between the Tyrrhenian side and the chain of Peloritani and Nebrodi. Packed lunch. A few hundred meters you can walk in the Natural Reserve of Malabotta' s wood, one of the most unspoiled woodlands.
In the afternoon a stroll along the medioeval town of Montalbano. In the late afternoon return by minibus to Catania. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 5: Vendicari Natural Reserve- Noto
Breakfast in Hotel. Transfer by minibus to Vendicari. The program includes: A trip along the path of
Vendicari Natural Reserve. Not to be missed: The salt pans and birdwatching, the tuna fishery, calamosche cove. Packed lunch. Hiking shoes are necessary or hardy sports shoes, and swimming suite. In the afternoon a walking along the amazing historical centre of Noto – baroque world heritage in the world. In the late afternoon return by minibus to Catania. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 6: Anapo Natural Reserve - Siracusa
Breakfast in Hotel. Transfer by minibus to the Anapo Valley. The program includes: A trip along the path of
Anapo River Natural Reserve: Not to be missed: Pantalica Necropoli, Anapo River, the old railway. Packed lunch. In the afternoon a visit of Siracuse – baroque world heritage in the world. In the late afternoon return by minibus to Catania. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 7:
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by minibus to the airport.

Noto:
Famous throughout the world for its extraordinary baroque architecture, and absolutely homogeneous unit because of the space and time in which occurred the construction of the new city after a devastating earthquake. For beauty and uniqueness Noto was declared as a"World Heritage"site by UNESCO.

Alcantara:
The Alcantara River Park was established in 2001 in order to protect and promote the existance of the natural area. The territory crossed by the river Alcantara is of particular importance under its own morphology created by the flow of water that has shaped and etched the area travelled through to create an imposing series of lava flows, attractive and deep gorges overlooking a spectacular series of waterfalls and lakes. Along the "Gurna" path which boasts nine observation areas, which allow you to admire the nature, history and traditions of the valley.

Vendicari:
Set in a nature reserve located in the Province of Syracuse. Especially important for the presence of wet land which act as a place to stop the migration of birds. It was officially established in 1984 after the then Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry declared that 1450 hectares of land should be put aside as "wetland of international importance", according to the Ramsar Convention of 1971. Inside the reserve, there are a number of architectural and archaeologicalsites.

Taormina:
The name of the ancient city was Tauromènion. According Diodorus Siculus was founded in 396 Others C. By indigenous Sicilian. After the Roman period Taormina became important Byzantine fortress.
Following Muslims completed the invasion of Sicily with the conquest of Taormina. Since 1079 d.C. was Norman. The city follows the events of Sicily, under several dominations.
Taormina from now onwards will develop, become the place of residence of elite tourism.

Anapo Valley:
The Anapo is a river whose name in greek means invisible. It is associated with the greek myth of Anapo.
Born on the Lauro Monts across the whole territory Syracuse to flow in the great basin of the port of Syracuse. The river erosion has created for the suggestive shape of a canyon where there is a necropolis.

Malabotta Forest:
Exceptional is its ecological value, not only for the integrity, but above all for enhanced environmental diversity. There are some oaks 1000 years old.

Montalbano Elicona:
Town of Megaliti, the "Preferred" by King Frederick II. One of the most beautiful villages of Italy, with its landscapes, its nature, its hospitable people and its traditions.
