COOKING
CLASSES IN MASSERIA SICILIANA
Relax and enjoy cooking classes
in the beautiful setting of the Sicilian countryside.

Thursday
Upon arrival in Palermo you will meet our tour director. Driving
to the agriturismo Masseria Siciliana, a wonderful rural estate
in the Palermo countryside. Time to settle into the reserved
rooms. Dinner and overnight stay.
Friday
Homemade jam cakes and traditional sweets for breakfast. In
the morning you will be free to enjoy the pool or hike in
the woods around the Masseria Siciliana. After lunch, we’ll
start the first cooking lesson. You will receive your book
of traditional Sicilian recipes. We will prepare the arancine,
the eggplant caponata, the pasta alla norma with eggplant
and ricotta salata, as well as the very tasty cassata. At
dinner, we will taste the dishes we have just prepared.
Saturday
Breakfast at the agriturismo and departure for Palermo, we
will visit the historical centre and its many fashionable
places such as: Teatro Massimo, Piazza Pretoria, Quattro Canti
the Cathedral. Then we will reach the very typical and folkloric
markets of Vucciria and Ballarò. Here we will taste
the characteristic products: panelle, arancine, pani cà
meusa, boiled octopus…Lunch at the agriturismo. At 3.00
p.m. we will start the second cooking lesson and we will learn
how to prepare the pasta con le sarde, the pumpkin in agrodolce
(sweet-and-sour) sauce and the Sfinci di San Giuseppe. At
dinner, we will taste the dishes we have just prepared.
Sunday
Breakfast and departure for Erice, a wonderful and mysterious
medieval town, celebrated in ancient times as the birthplace
of Venus. Walking through the cobblestone streets of town,
smelling a variety of aromas emanating from the numerous pastry
shops for which Erice is famous, we will visit the Pasticceria
Grammatico, the Castle and the Duomo. Lunch at Ristorante
Elimo, with Chef Carmelo Tilotta. In the afternoon depature
for the airport.
