OF OLIVE IN AGRIGENTO
Delight your senses in a luxurious
family-run farm among the olive groves.

Thursday
Arrival at the airport. Transfer to the agriturismo Mandranova,
near to the Valley of Temples in Agrigento. Accommodation
in the reserved rooms. Visit to the Mandranova oil
press next to the farm holidays. We’re discovering
how the Sicilian oil is produced and we’re also tasting
it together with the hot bread and oregano . Dinner and overnight
stay.
Friday
Breakfast in the farm holidays and departure to Agrigento
where we’re visiting the wonderful Valley of
the Temples. Along the “Sacred Way” we
will visit the Temple of Hercules, the Temple of Concord,
and the Temple of Juno. Finally, we will visit the wonderful
Garden of Kolymbetra, an old water reservoir of the Greeks.
Coming back to the agriturismo and lunch. At 3:30 p.m. we
will start the first cooking lesson and we
will learn how to prepare the verdure and broccoli in pastella
, sarde a beccafico and Pasta con le sarde. At dinner, we
will taste the dishes we have just prepared.
Saturday
Breakfast in the farm holidays. In the morning Mrs
Silvia shows us how to cook Cavatelli all’agrigentina
with eggplant and basil, one of the most ancient
Sicilian dishes. We’re also learning to cook panelle
with chickpea sour, fritto di latte and finally a typical
cake.
We’re tasting our plates during the lunch. In the afternoon
we will learn to distinguish the different qualities and the
peculiarities of the oil. The lesson will be in the gastronomic
laboratory of the Locanda di Terra, a suggestive place in
the historical centre of Agrigento. Dinner at the Locanda
di terra. Tour of Agrigento and Valley of the Temples
by night. Return and overnight stay.

Breakfast and relax in the farm holidays. Departure for the
airport
