Palermo and the ancient markets

In Palermo, we will visit the ancient markets of the Vucciria and of Ballarò, typical “par excellence”, coloured and folkloric, a mirror of the city and its inhabitants.

A walk amongst the stalls can be the occasion for an exploration in the island’s past, seen by the men who have lived the street.

Following a custom of Arabian origin, the market streets are overrun with wooden crates containing the goods continuously “abbanniate” (declaimed) by salesmen..
